Update on These Douchebags [NOT 23/8/22]

Hi, friends!

Hey so a few times I’ve mentioned the child abusing “religious” unlicensed boarding schools in Missouri. Here’s an update —

(101 felony charges) Accusations include:

  • physical abuse
  • sexual abuse
  • statutory rape
  • child endangerment
  • neglect
  • RICO violations for stealing one girl’s inheritance
  • fraud

This fucking “school” is still open. People still have their kids there.

Our dipshit AG (who won the republican primary to run for a senate seat) had recommended 65 criminal charges against 22 codefendents. Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney Ty Gaither has chosed to only charge 5 adults who worked there with a combined 13 counts of third-degree felony assault. In this case, the AG’s office was actually decent and the county prosecuting attorney is being a fucking coward. Probably has someone in their family who works there etc, if I had to guess.

FYI the AG”s office has not filed an injunction to close the school, despite all those recommended charges. So still assholes.

  1. My MIL donates to sob story appeals from Native American boarding schools, which try to play up their connections to Native American culture. Every time I look into them I get mad.

Do they pull kids out of Native American communities and indoctrinate them in Catholicism? Why, yes, yes they do.

Do they spend huge percentages of their take on overhead, consultants, execs, and almost nothing on kids? Yes, yes they do.

Do they invent kids out of thin air and use these imaginary kids in their fundraising? Are you kidding me, of course they do.

Do they reward donors with BS trinkets that are supposedly Native American crafts but are clearly marked “Made in China” instead? You betcha.

Does pointing any of this out matter? “Oh, but look at this dream catcher, it’s supposed to be traditional!”

    • Friendly reminder in case someone brings up Baker Creek Seed Company. They invited that douchebag Ammon Bundy to be a keynote speaker a few years ago at one of their events. So you know, white supremacy is fine because he like heirloom watermelons*.

*I can only assume he also stole the seeds from an indigenous or other minority group.

  2. Florida is awash in scam charter schools. But it’s true of the entire county.

New Report: Charter Fraud And Waste Worse Than We Thought

    Quote:

Last March, the Network for Public Education released a report showing that the federal government has lost a billion dollars to charter school waste and fraud. But the organization had not stopped sifting through the data. Their follow-up report, “Still Asleep At The Wheel: How the Federal Charter Schools Program Results in as Pileup of Fraud ands Waste,” reveals that the situation is even worse than shown in the first report, while laying out more state by state details. Particularly striking—the vast amount of money that has been wasted on ghost schools that never served.

    • Bill Gates’s gift keeps giving.

One of Gates’ acolytes ($26 million in funding, Harvard degree of course) is heading up Glenn Youngkin’s Department of Education in Virginia and busy at work trying to throw monkey wrenches into public schools and push through right wing anti PC curricula. But based on precious incorruptable data, for sure.

  3. This is why I’d rather have public schools.  As problematic a public service bureaucracy is, it is still less fucked up than administration based on religious dogma and/or profit and sexual predation of kids.
