Hi, friends!
I hope your Thursday has gone well!
Do you have any tv shows or movies you’re watching out of spite? Like not necessarily a hate watching situation, but definitely one where you are watching it with a strong sense of cynicism, side eye etc.
I binged the 4 episodes so far of “Renovation Aloha” on HGTV. As the name implies, it’s Hawaii. It’s Oahu, and I know that island is crazy high real estate prices but also they’re in popular areas so it’s even worse.
Anyways, I watched an episode where the buyer came in with an all cash offer of $1,480,000 for a 4 bedroom house with an ocean view off the deck and Ko’olau mountains views from other windows. Don’t get me wrong, lovely house, gorgeous views. Fucking gorgeous mountain views. Must be nice to have that kind of money, I have serious doubts about what sorts of careers yield that sort of assets. Makes me appreciate my low real estate costs here!
Do Leafs games count?
Definitely counts!
watch out of spite?
no
watch because its on and i have nothing better to do maybe?
in fact i has a problem with doin anything out of spite
oh shit…i watched your shit coz i hate you so….that’ll teach you
theres something wonky about that logic you know.
I guess I see the phrase “out of spite” as something that can also be motivated by envy or jealousy or other negative emotions, not really something out with intent to hurt others. Agreed, it’s still not a positive concept to work with, but also not with any expectation of my behavior changing anything for anyone else.
I tried watching Kitchen Nightmares a couple of times on the rerun channel on the local broadcast station. But it seemed awfully forced and stagey, and not all that entertaining. Maybe I just watched the wrong ones.
The episodes of Kitchen Nightmares I’ve seen confuse me because I don’t understand why a health inspector hasn’t been called. Or wasn’t required to be called as the episode unfolded.
Was the buyer Marc Benioff, the CEO of Sales Force?

Maybe someone pretending to be moving in but actually a representative for one of those sketchy LLCs?!!
Mom update… no calls from the hospital in 5 days after 15-20 calls in the past 2 weeks. I called today to ask what’s up? No news is good news.
Most of the calls came because of falls or being restrained after falls, but she also inadvertently caused a fight between two male patients and got punched in the face (no bruising fortunately.) The fight started because she entered another patients’ room (two were staying there) due to her rummaging. One patient freaked out, the other started swinging. Down goes mom.
I found out dad wasn’t eating because he missed mom. I visited him and stayed till past meal time to make him eat. I gently prodded him to eat telling him mom wouldn’t like him too skinny. He ate most of the meal. I told him about how mom was doing (but not telling him about her getting punched in the face.)
Oh my. I am sorry for these troubles but so relieved that your parents are in a safer situation. You are a very, very good son. @manchucandidate
I’m glad your mom is ok after getting punched in the face and falling. My heart goes out to you. You’re a good son. It’s heartbreaking to watch and care for parents at the end stages of their lives.
Thanks for the update.
That’s a lot of upheaval going on. Glad they are in facilities that can help them.
Meh, I have a difficult enough time finding BrainDrain shows as it is, without watching stuff that causes side eye. I’ll turn a show off or blip ahead to the last 10 minutes rather than keep watching mediocre TV.
My wife had meetings tonight so I watched Ricky Stanicky and now I feel bad about myself.
Oh Ricky you’re not so fine, you’re not so fine I blew my mind?
That’s being pushed on me and I’m very reluctant to bite.
Yeah. That looks awful.
