Hi, friends!
I hope your weekend went well. I’m in the process of cooking some Brussels sprouts and andouille sausages to have as lumch this week to work. I guess it might smell like farts when I reheat my lunch, but people reheat fish at work so I’m not going to care. Also roasted some squash to go along with it, because I got too excited about squash at Trader Joe’s last week and bought some delicatas knowing full well I had several other squashes already at home. Shrug.
Last night my garden plants survived! I had them double-wrapped and was very hopeful. Fingers crossed they make it through tonight’s low of 20. I know in a few more weeks I’ll be like eh if they die they die, but I got a lot of meals’ worth of greens out there that I haven’t eaten yet.
The weekend went by in the blink of an eye. Sigh.
I brought in the most tender houseplants off the porch and swapped out the screens for glass on the storm doors. But then it’s November.
I made a rabbit Amigurumi.
(I don’t know how to add the photo which I’ve uploaded to DS. If someone could help me out, it would be much appreciated.)
Let me try this…
@HammerZeitgeist that is awesome!
OK, I went to the Media Library in the dashboard, then opened the image. Copied the URL and then pasted in the comment and it came up.
Thank you for posting and teaching me how to post it!
That is so cute! I love it!
Do some regular posts of photos of these!
This is the basic explainer, and if you have more questions post in an open thread and I’m sure someone can help puzzle it out.
@HammerZeitgeist That’s adorable!
I admit to being a little disappointed that rabbit Amigurumi isn’t a FYCE dish, but that is very nice work, @hammerzeitgeist.
Excellent work! Now do Hobbes. Please. I’ll pay you.
I don’t work on commission. But here’s a pic of a tiger for you.
@hammerzeitgeist That is an adorable bunny! I have never quite gotten making amirugumi… If I could figure out how to post pics from my phone, I would show you the amazingly goofy looking bear I made my grandson 😆
I love the projects that turn out goofy. They have character. The rabbit has a grey leg because I ran out of blue. I just call it a cast and my kids love that idea.
I also replaced the battery in the fob for my car’s remote start, which was a smart decision given the weather this week.
I spent most of my weekend… (only 3/4 of Sunday) reading, watching Youtube and doing laundry plus going to the parents for Sunday dinner. Then it is off to night shift (fuck, I hate Sunday night shift.)
Tomorrow I got to clean my house and pack.
I should have cleaned my house this weekend, but I did not.
It’s at the point where the clutter in places is causing me stress, but I just didn’t get around to it. I did stay caught up on dishes, laundry, and food prep, so I’m going to call that good enough.
@brightersideoflife my house has gotten away from me again, too. The kitchen table has all but disappeared under the pile of “where does this even go?” crap on it.
Oh I feel that!
I did some baking today too and that meant a lot of stuff just got piled on surfaces to make room where I needed it.
Been watching Grandbaby all day, so haven’t gotten much done. We did manage a quick run to Aldi and the dollar store (needed a sippy cup for him… Dad forgot his this morning!), and I got the guys to make dinner and clean up (yay!) Currently watching Ratatouille and also watching a certain tired little boy’s eyelids droop while he snuggles his blankie 🙂
I had big plans this morning to make a pork roast and gravy and boiled potatoes. That didn’t happen. Gonna have to do it tomorrow, though, for sure.
The furnace woke me up at 5 a.m. today with a lot of clanging, which I groggily deduced was not good. I killed the power, opened the panels, and didn’t see anything obvious.
Powered it back on, and in mere seconds the unobvious became obvious. A bolt in one of the blower motor brackets had backed out — the clanging was the inadequately fastened motor assembly whacking into the blower fan.
As I tried to refasten the loose bolt, it became evident that the bolt hole was stripped. However, I saw that there were multiple bolt holes in the chassis, so I released the other two bolts, aligned the brackets with different bolt holes, and then reattached the motor.
Thus far – fingers crossed – the furnace is working as it should.
I was exhausted by 8 a.m.
That is fucking impressive.
I concur with HammerZeitgeist, fucking impressive!
My idea of trying to fix a furnace is plug in some space heaters, panic, and call an HVAC company.
That was Plan B.
We have ancient radiators in our house and I still remember the horrifying banging that went on the first night after they turned on when we moved in.
We learned to sleep through it all.
My old condo had these baseboard heaters from the 1960s and those things definitely popped and grumbled. One was especially chatty but luckily it was in the living room and not my bedroom.
I did very much appreciate the easy way to use them for zonal heating though.
