Exactly! Very thankful for you folks. I lurk on my wife’s Facebook & saw a post from one of my good friends that basically said “if you are ok with what ICE is doing, unfriend me now.” Of course, this brought out all the Trumpers justifying the killing and saying she was paid by Soros & other crazy Faux news BS. I was a little surprised how many Hawaii people are in the cult but then again, Hawaii has one of the worst public education systems.
Well, I wouldn’t quite say that I’m avoiding it because having the majority of my substantial dealings with people over a screen (even if I can see their faces and hear their voices) just fucking gets to me every now and then. But at least there’s no one here I would mute or block, and that’s more than I can say in most cases.

I may have mentioned this before… I never really feared for my life in Canada outside of a bully or two, but there was one moment when the family was coming back from a winter trip up in Haliburton and we got chased for about 100km by a redneck in a pickup truck. I don’t know what we did to get this guy on our ass, but he made it into a game of cat and mouse. I think my dad knew we were in trouble when he signaled for the guy to pass and he backed off. What made it worse was the road conditions were fucking terrible as it was in the middle of a typical blustery winter day in the snow belt. It means for anyone white knuckle driving because you always have to watch out for snow and black ice.
So anyway, this fucker was chasing us for around an hour. I watched him from the back of the station wagon and could see he was grinning like this was all a fucking game to him. White, about in his early 40s. He looked like the kind of person my parents always warned me about (crazy country goober in a pickup truck.)
My parents were scared, but my dad was also pissed because the pickup truck would close in and try to “push” dad to make him go faster and increase the odds of hitting a slippery patch and wiping out. It was obvious to even me at the time that goober wanted to drive us off the road, but without damaging his rusted piece of shit pickup truck. Claim it was an “accident.” Dad knew.
Not only were 2m high snow banks lining the side of the road and it was rural Ontario… not many people or farms and not much traffic especially at night. Closest house might be a 3-5 km walk in the snow. This was also the mid 80s when there were no cellphones. So any accident here would be really bad for us.
Half way to Collingwood, dad hit a patch of black ice that caused the station wagon to slip a bit and he managed to keep on us on the road. It was the same time goober had closed up to us in another attempt to push us. He was grinning till he hit that same patch of ice then his face turned to horror as he fucked up and over compensated causing his asshole eyes to bug out of his face and he started screaming. The truck spun out and slammed into the side of a 2m snow bank.
My mom (being sometimes too nice) wanted to go back and help the man. Dad growled and said NO. We kept going in our own version of Canadian Passive Aggression.
My wife bought my daughter a national park pass but made sure she got it before they put Papaya Pol Pot’s face on it.
