I’m not at all surprised that Bezos got cold feet about the Democracy Dies in Darkness move in 2017. I was more surprised that he seemed to react by turning the Post into a washed out version of Politico and gutted really good arts, food and sports coverage. The Post lost Wordle to the NY Times because they wouldn’t bid over a few million bucks for it, and that kind of cheapness probably cost them a million annual subscribers.
Basically turning the Post into nothing more than NY Times political coverage killed the brand, and they’ve been bleeding cash ever since.
It’s pretty clear that Bezos is like David Zaslav and he has no sense at all for what content people want, and hates delivering it. The Tolkien stuff has no buzz and it’s hard to think of Prime Video functioning like a serious network.
And now they’re trashing what’s left of their journalism brand. It’s like something a lot of sports owners like John Fisher and David Tepper are doing in taking extra steps to destroy goodwill for no clear business value.
Oh, it’s a nail biter all right. According to my calculations, approximately 3,000 voters in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and a further 2,500 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, will decide this thing. All we can do is send thoughts and prayers.
My dad’s immediate family comes from around there. I’m pretty sure of what you mean by”party people” —and it isn’t quite the same as the definition that Our Dear Cousin might’ve used at least once upon a time.
Underwear parties were a trend in the 1990s and I once went to one at a gay bar in the East Village and I ran into…well, discretion is the better part of valor, but he seemed to be having a good time with a couple of his friends.
Well, I’ve only ever ridden through there on the way back from a family trip to Door County (the “swingiest county” in Wisconsin, as 60 Minutes recently had it) about 25 years or so ago. But if this is the same story that you’ve let slip at least once or twice before, then he may have stopped by while he was still vainly running for president, sure.
Everyone is sleeping in today, I see. Well here’s something: America’s most haunted universities.
Surprisingly, Jesuit Fordham is #1. If anyone could do an exorcism or two you’d think a Fordham Jesuit could. Standards must be slipping up there.
Georgetown is a Jesuit school and Father Karras seem to have done a terrible job getting Regan’s demons under control.
Democracy dies in … well, fuck it, who wants democracy anyway?

Lack of..
Manchu, didn’t you tell us this? I feel like this has been out there forever.
Elon Musk, enemy of ‘open borders,’ launched his career working illegally
Yes. I think the rumors of him fleeing South Africa because of mandatory conscription make more sense.
The outbreak is spreading. God is punishing McDonalds for Trump’s lame photo op.
CDC says 75 people infected in E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s
Two all beef patties, E Coli sauce, lettuce, cheese on a sesame seed bun!
I’m really not sure why people keep showing up for these things. I guess it’s because Fox never reports on the problems.
Watch: MAGA fans flee Trump rally early as Joe Rogan podcast keeps them waiting for hours
People were fleeing Beyonce and Willie Nelson and Harris…. oh wait, no they weren’t the crowds were vastly bigger and more enthusiastic.
But let’s not draw any contrasts.
IT’S NECK AND NECK! THE POLLS TELL ME SO!

I grew up 30 minutes from Waukesha. Let me tell you, they are party people.

Does/did Waukesha have things like this?
