Weekend Vibes [DOT 27/7/24]

Today was the last day of party prep before our big event tomorrow. We’ve initiated a party in my brother’s name: it’s called the Shithead Jamboree. We’ve got a surf band playing at 6PM and I’m a little nervous as to how many people are actually going to show up. Could be in the 100s. Send tots and pears!

I’m comforted by the fact that nobody in Ohio likes this guy

    • …you’re welcome?

…kinda surprised that white car can hack a wall of death but I’m sure physics says it’s not as hard to believe as my eyes tell me

…as ever though your youtube-fu makes it seem like I only dabble in such things?

  1. shithead jamboree is beautiful

unfortunately the missus ate my pears…so ive only got tots

but seriously…..have a good un love

sounds like a proper send off is well deserved

    • …the quote from the tweet I got sent by someone who moved to the UK from the states a long time ago…she’d been sent it in turn by friends who were scared…&…I get it…it’s scary…but…it’s also sort of funny?

…the washington post’s alexandra petri only yesterday ran a parody column about the issues the GOP is having with people saying the quiet part loud & there he goes saying that…to self-styled “believers” no less

…seems to me one side is very much running scared…which says something when you think about how much he’s been not just allowed but actively enabled to get away with?

…compared to that the project 2025 dude being opus dei-ish…seems…predictable?

  2. Welcome to Fun City!*

“Fun City” was a Mayor Lindsay-era nickname that never really caught on. Unfortunately, it was rolled out just as New York entered its almost fatal decline, culminating in the bankruptcy of 1975.

Mayor “Patch” Adams has rolled out another one: “The City of Yes.” He must be joking.

  3. “America Deserves A Better Campaign From Both Candidates”

    Guess the paper.

“she needs to do more, and she needs to do it quickly. Ms. Harris ought to challenge Mr. Trump to a series of debates or town halls on subjects of national importance, such as the economy, foreign policy, health care and immigration. Mr. Trump claims that he is ready and willing to participate in debates once Democrats have officially selected a nominee. ”

Funny how Trump’s claim – which he’s already run from like a scared roach fleeing the light – is treated as legitimate, while Harris “needs to do more.”

And of course they roll out the passive voice!

They finally get around at the end to say the “former president has barely been pressed on important policy questions or offered any concrete plans” when we all know who hasn’t bothered to press him. It’s the political press that’s completely fallen down on the job.

They’re demanding a new candidate offer in a few months as much as a guy who’s been running for four years should have provided but has steadfastly refused. And the problem is with her.

    • What they are actually saying is “Harris needs to pin Trump down and make him answer the tough questions because, frankly, we can’t be bothered.”

And of course they affirm that Trump is ready and willing to debate. Because there’s no reason a man who uttered 30,573 lies during his presidency would lie about being willing to debate.

Honestly, I’m not currently seeing an upside for Harris getting on the stage with that pile of orange pus. She’s got the momentum, she’s got the donors, she’s got the volunteers. This sounds to me like a weird Hail Mary to try and discredit her somehow. They figure it worked on Biden and it will work on her too.

  4. Americans Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook took home the first medal for the United States in the Paris Olympics on Saturday as they finished with a silver in the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard event.

If only Stephen Fry had been their coach.
