My brother wasn’t missing part of arm, but it was messed up and became more messed up as he grew older, one of the bones grew quicker so he couldn’t straighten it, and it got worse as he grew. That typed, he didn’t let him hold him back, and I have always appreciated people who persevere through adversity, ala Steve Avery.

I have no doubt that they’d lie for their boss. It’s irrelevant though and nobody wants to hear from them, so nobody’s asking. Hutchinson reported what she heard, not what she saw. The lunging, whether or not it happened (I believe it did) is not germane to Trump’s insurrection. Republicans are trying to use a minor anecdote to discredit Hutchinson’s testimony.
It’s like Trump said “fuck” during the insurrection he orchestrated and people were like “no, no, he would never use profanity” and it. doesn’t. matter. Your behavior while committing crimes has no bearing on the severity of the crimes you commit. Bank robbers don’t get credit for being polite.
The Secret Service needs to do their jobs, which should involve firing any member of any security detail that “volunteers” information about any single aspect of that detail. In other words, speak when you’re subpoenaed and under oath. Otherwise shut the fuck up.
100% this. Classic right-wing noise playbook: Focus on one very specific detail that is potentially difficult to prove or easily spun as indeterminate and use uncertainty over it as the lever to ignore the 87 other details that are already clear.

The top White House reporter for NBC, Peter Alexander, lit this on fire originally by citing anonymous sources supposedly close to the Secret Service, aka GOP operatives. And now he’s walking it back as it’s become increasingly clear he screwed up.
The agents who were present are scared to death of testifying under oath and are now backtracking. But only after the story blew up with Alexander’s initial report being endlessly cited, while his walkback gets ignored.
Alexander has been an obvious conduit for right wing talking points since inauguration day. He is an awful reporter — all he does is ask those weirdly phrased questions that White House reporters are notorious for shouting.
The right has been fixated on the steering wheel story from the beginning, and Alexander decided to carry water for them without doing basic reporting to validate what he was being told to say.
The odds that the agents themselves pitched Alexander on this are zero — it was almost certainly the GOP operatives who have connections to Alexander who did the linkup.
And you can bet Alexander will learn nothing from being embarrassed by his sources. He’ll continue to let them tell him where to look and what to say because he’ll see this explosion as a sign of how important they are, not how damaging they are.

…but now it sounds like someone has since announced they’ll step down so he can warm their bench…no idea if that’s still something that dem-controlled votes in the state legislature could still de-rail but presumably if they were to then what ever the other side of the deal might have been has even less chance of being honored by mcconnell?
…as far as I can see to have been willing to make the trade biden must have been offered something worth enough that the chances of mitch holding up his end of the deal started out at slim-to-none, though…so I really don’t get why anyone thought it was a good idea
The reality is that 50 Republicans will vote for this motherfucker and at least a few chickenshit Democrats (Manchin, Sinema, and any other one up for reelection in a red or purple state) will as well, so it’s basically a done deal the minute Joe makes the nomination official.
