I’m going ziplining today, so feel free to pray for me.
Good.
Man charged with manslaughter over subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely in New York

This is upsetting to me on a personal level as I know one of these men.

‘Disgraceful breach of trust’: how PwC, one of the world’s biggest accountancy firms, became mired in a tax scandal

Sprots! That’s crazy!
Who would be against Costco? I’m preternaturally mad about this lady.
CHONK!

Have a great day! Brain Drain will be along shortly. Who’s watching Queen Charlotte?!?
Bo knows hiccups
I used to get hiccups that would last for hours and it’s awful. I can’t imagine having them for a year. I feel bad for Bo Jackson.
I do not have any pity for Lorie Vallow Daybell and was pleased that she was found guilty.

Do not ask for whom the Daybell tolls. It tolls for thee (and not in a good way.)
Nortel spun off many corporate services to PwC a few months before I arrived.
PwC can bite my ass.
I used to have to get pens and other office supplies from now unemployed coworker cubicles because those fuckers were so stingy.
PwC HR consultants lied to me alot during a salary dispute where it turned out I was vastly underpaid (25%) and they told me I couldn’t handle a 25% annual raise (try me motherfuckers!) and would increase my pay by 25% over four years.
I asked “Don’t I get this on top of my regular raise so as not to fall behind?”
PwC HR fuckwit: “Hahaha! Fuck you asshole.”
Six months later, Nortel Execs got a one year 30% increase… the same fuckers who would kill us some 3 years later. In my defense, I was actually good at my job unlike the Six Smegma GE Dipshits the board had brought in to fuck up the place.
…so…this is gonna sound squirrelly…but…the PwC thing?
…co-ordination across trans-national domains to engineer fun & profit by gaining advantage through privileged information accessed by breach of confidence…more or less…in an organization that’s a nation in its own right if you list it by GDP
…&…well…back in the day you could argue that the knights templar were somewhere between a wealth management & proto-banking concern that enjoyed a bonus of being above the secular laws of the various lands they operated in
…can’t see things coming to quite the same ending but they do say the more things change the more they stay the same…or somebody did at least once…in french…so maybe it lost something in translation?
I speak squirrelly. Often.
The Knights Templar! We don’t talk about them often enough, nor do we talk nearly enough about their various sieges and battles during the Crusades.
goood morning! or whatever time it is over there
i found 5 minutes in my busy gardening and meeting friends for beer on a terrace schedule for music
so here
no clicky that one if you are epileptic…it probably wont end well
I finished Queen Charlotte last night.
Chonky is what I call my baby. I see a resemblance in their thighs so they must be related.
Good luck ziplining!
Huge amounts of the service industry still doesn’t do any real order tracking. You just put in an order and then you show up when they say it will be ready.Sometimes you write your own order and put it in a box, sometimes it’s talking to someone at the counter and then they write down your order for you and put it in a box.
John gets a special cake request that takes more time, he asks Mary if she can cover another order for him, she says sure, puts the slip in her pile, goes on a break, and if you call before it’s due, nobody knows where the order is. You go the lumberyard and ask Clyde if he can cut some boards for you, Clyde says sure, wanders off to hand it one of the guys in the back, who may then hand it somebody else, and eventually your order comes out.
That doesn’t mean anything is lost, and if management knows the employees are reliable, there’s no advantage to slow down the process with excess tracking. Tracking everything to a micro level adds costs and the benefits are often an illusion.
Have I got the perfect mayor for this new town!

…doesn’t matter how good your ticketing system is if nobody uses the thing because it’s inconvenient to the people trying to get the work done
…some of ’em are pretty nifty, though…gantt chart integrations & critical path analysis & all sorts
…people did pretty good with a lot of scrap paper impaled on a big spike for a long time, on the other hand?
Efficiency consultants love that stuff because it’s an extremely easy way to sell systems. Plus they’re going in to an environment that isn’t highly quantified, so it’s easy to invent noncomparable metrics that they can claim were improved by adding a tracking system.
Was some metric like restaurant server interaction time due to the old paper system being inefficient? Or was it due to customers liking to shoot the breeze? A consultant who wants to win a contract for micro analysis will conflate the two in order to drive up turnaround time, and count on upper management not knowing enough about the business while evaluating the contract bid.
There’s a universe of potential metrics a consultant can choose in advance to use in their model of outcomes, and it’s easy to stack the deck in advance to inevitably get the result they want. And if it all ends up with unhappy employees and customers and overwhelming amounts of poorly defined data? That’s not the consultant’s problem anymore.
…they’re like a lot of tools…pick the right one for the job & take care of it…it’ll make it seem easy…fail to maintain it properly or pick a tool that isn’t well suited…it’ll take you longer, annoy you more & you may never achieve the result you wanted to begin with
…for a process that involves a lot of people & a lot of moving parts but very little joined up thinking something that can divvy up tasks & supply interlocking deadlines so the things that need to arrive do so before they’re required to complete something & do those sorts of thankless bits of foresight & controlling for bottlenecks they can be a god-send under certain circumstances
…under others they can kill the whole basis of cooperation stone dead along with whatever benefits any parties might have seen from the original idea
…it isn’t necessarily the case that the tools themselves are good or bad in some senses…though if the UX feedback loop is part of the calculation a lot of them are more bad than good until you’re familiar enough to get the benefits…by which time familiarity with the whole set up can sort of blind you to the steepness of the learning curve that got you there
…horses for courses & all that sort of thing?
In my mind, the only good use of AI is for rap battles & I am all in!
@MegMegMcGee…zip lining…on purpose? With friends? Not as an enforced work team bonding exercise? You are impressive!

welp just broke up with a mate of mine….and im using mate loosely here
no matter how often i told him i am not a social person..the dude kept insisting i come out
and i was playing along…coz you know….maybe i am sociable…and just dont know it
today however he decided my lack of socialness is totally the missusses fault….. coz im clearly fucking pussy whipped
now….i am pretty sure most of yous know how fucked up my personal life is
yeah…. go fuck yourself yourself you bearded dimwitted cunt….we are done.
…not sure I can think of a gender-flipped counterpart off the top of my head…but there are a worrying number of “blokes” knocking about with some righteously wrong-assed notions about “the only difference, right, between your choice I don’t understand/agree with/have the capacity to empathize with & me, see, is I’m not [insert pejorative term for an attribute they’re jealous of]”
…in this case by the sounds of it that you might show signs of knowing someone who’s both not a bloke & not a doormat
…which to most people is better than whatever place he calls home, I’d be guessing…since that line doesn’t scream “heading back to somewhere that shows evidence of a woman’s touch”…at least not to me…bet he thinks he’s a man’s man, though?
dude has had relationships….all fairly short lived for some reason
i did not know it was possible to piss me off that much in one sentence tho
yeah sorry mate im going to pay up for both of us after this one coz i dont want to cause further issues at home by turning up pissed as a coot
you probably dont need a lot of imagination to figure out his reply
touched a nerve that did….made me realize that in fact i dont know why i put up with this dopey fuckers shit
A real friend would respect a person’s choices even if you don’t agree with them.
My former housemate was like that. He would make demands on you that you didn’t want to do. He would try to force people out because it wasn’t what YOU wanted, but what HE wanted.
That dude is pretty damned selfish.
