What are you looking forward to? [NOT 18/7/22]

"Ah, there they are. So what are you ordering for yourself?" By the way, these are hurricane glasses. I think it is illegal to put anything other than tropical drinks and loose change (not at the same time) in a hurricane glass.

Hi, friends!

I hope your Monday went well and the rest of the week goes quickly.

Anything you’re excited about that’s coming soon? As per usual, I’m thinking about food – local peaches are starting to come in season. I have a doctor appointment on Friday so I’ve been eating healthy the last few weeks (fingers crossed my blood pressure is good) which means Friday night is likely going to be margaritas and queso dip or something equally yummy.

  1. I’ve been on a journey with watches. For years I got quartz movements but the batteries don’t last nearly long enough. So I switched to an automatic movement and it couldn’t keep time for shit. So I splurged and got a nice mechanical watch that I will wind every morning (even though a single wind can power the watch for 50 hours) and think about all the times I’ll never have to go to the watch repair place again.

    • I’d be more upset that the wave knocked out the bar.

      I’m guessing destination wedding?

Yeah…. the only one I was invited to I promptly said no as at that time I had barely any money to keep financially afloat let alone fly to Mexico. You enjoy your fancy ass wedding, but my poor ass stays in Canada.

      • Yeah, no locals would let the cake & bar be on the waterside during high tide & a growing swell.  We would put our mother in law table or similar.  I’m being forced to go to one on Puerto Rico in October & am hoping for this kind of thing to happen.  Sorry/not sorry.

  2. I’m looking forward to the US government greenlighting the second boost for adults under 50. I can’t believe it is taking them so long when they have all the data about the 3 Omicron variants. Canada and Germany have already made them available (probably other countries too but I don’t follow their news).

      • Same.   My wife heard that there’s some new vaccine coming out in September so we were sort of putting off the second booster.  I don’t have much contact with strangers where I live, and she’s teaching online only during the Summer, but we want to be nice and protected come Fall.

        • Yes, there’s a bivalent vaccine coming out which is tailored to combat both Covid in general and omicron specifically. But no word yet on the release. They are currently telling people over 50 to get the booster that is available and not wait until the Fall which leads me to believe it will be a late Fall release.

    • I had no problem walking into my CVS and getting a second booster. And I had no moral qualms about doing so since there aren’t lines or shortages. If you want a second booster I would just go get it.

  3. i’m looking forward to throwing myself in a lake in a minute

early morning swims are my favourite part of heatwaves

if i’d lived more remotely they’d probably be day long swims…but as i dont i try to get an hour or two in before the army of kids and parents turn up to ruin my peace n quiet
