All of this fake controversy is just about trying to kill coverage of that.

On the other hand, they’ll pore over Trump’s dementia babble and manufacture a coherent statement from it, no matter how hard they have to edit it to make him look remotely normal.
It’s just business as usual for the right-wing media, and the reality is that most major news outlets now fall into the “right-wing media” bucket.
It’s smokescreen tactics, which militaries have been deploying forever but has gotten more sophisticated in the past century as delivery devices have improved.
When you don’t think you can win in a straight up fight, you lay down a huge cloud of smoke to try to bog down the other side and either sneak away or else attack and hope they’re more disoriented by the smoke than you are.
It’s also a rhetorical technique that the right wing deploys frequently. Isolate one element, pick at it, and then say the whole thing is false.
You see it in gun arguments. Someone will say “the shooter used an AK-47” and a gun humper will start screaming that “That’s an AK-403 with a modified grip and you don’t know shit about guns and you have no business discussing them” when the issue is you don’t have to know about guns to want to avoid getting shot.

And yet, or possibly related to white purity, they will be the first ones to advocate for “queering Palestine.” They’re not just idiots, they’re mentally ill. Once Palestine has been queered, who will be next? Iran? Saudi Arabia? Afghanistan? Or, none of the above?
I think the particular manifestation of their malignancy as far as gay communities in Islamic states – and they’ve always existed – would be a campaign to out everyday members in the name of “liberation.” Meanwhile the Saudi or Iranian versions of Roy Cohn and J. Edgar Hoover would escape the same treatment.
One of the things that plagued the civil rights movement by the late 1960s was the self proclaimed purists who happily collaborated with the right. They attacked the movement supposedly from the left, although the arguments were often the same as what right wingers said. It’s fed by narcissism, jealousy, and typically a big dose of stupidity.
I read a really interesting article about being a gay man in Cairo. Cairo is a city of about 20 million, so you would imagine you’d run into a few gay men, no matter how closeted they were. For social life people congregated in apartments with bootleg liquor, but the best parties were held on party boats in the middle of the Nile. Guests would keep a lookout and if anyone suspected one of Cairo’s many law enforcement agencies was heading for the party boat the Western music would be turned off and the (again, bootleg) liquor stored away. The strange thing about this, to me, is if you’re on a party boat and there are 100 men but no women, the authorities believe that is perfectly normal and desirable.

For marginalized communities not only in authoritarian Islamic countries but authoritarian countries everywhere, there has always been a question of how repressive the authorities will be.
Often they can be quite lax, and just want some small bribes to go away. But that can all disappear in the blink of an eye. The pathology that can take over marginalized communities is a combination of denial that anything bad will happen, along with a tolerance for collaborators in the name of group solidarity, and a willingness to be distracted by hatred for other outsider groups.
In Germany in the early days of Hitler there were Jewish people who backed him, and even after his crackdowns started, wealthy Jews in places like France were willing to deal with the Nazis, feeling they were safe and fueled by a dislike for socialists. As I’m sure you know, Roy Cohn was openly gay in Fire Island and took advantage of the generational reluctance to expose another gay man, even though he was engaged in openly persecuting them. It took the younger generation who was done with being silent during the AIDS crisis who finally openly attacked his place of privilege.
Elijah Muhammad fueled his rise with anti-semitism and homophobia, and ended up turning on Malcolm X’s efforts to build bridges with MLK Jr. and embrace a more tolerant vision of Islam.
And of course what happens over and over is that collaborators find out that the special treatment they expect from authorities doesn’t arrive.

they’ve planned a whole weekend to get it all implemented and working at the end of next month (yay ot for those so inclined…im not)
anyways….sides from that whole weekend time frame never working out….seems to me they are overlooking something…as literally no one outside of the office has the first clue about how exact is going to work….. not so much as an introduction to
me finks its going to be a disaster and i still have about a month time off available to me….

Yep! One of my friends used to be a medical assistant for a pediatrics office and the parents would be pushy about this with her. To which she would say “are you explaining in detail what every vaccine does to them? Are you going through discussions of whooping cough and tetanus, and now you expect them to go intentionally get cut by rusty metal?”
