I binged the new Netflix documentary series, Trust Me: The False Prophet. And I have some THOUGHTS.

Here’s the high level summary:

• Remember Warren Jeffs and the fundamental Mormons?
• Remember Warren Jeffs making their religion into a weird sex cult to abuse members and assault children?
• Warren Jeffs goes to jail, but he’s still their prophet. He’s still controlling that town.
• Warren Jeffs isn’t getting any marital rape in jail nor children, so he tells all his followers that nobody can have kids. And no new marriages.
• This shitfuck loser, Samuel Bateman, says he’s receiving visions and he’s a prophet.
• He convinces a few idiot shitfuck men to follow him. This includes giving him their daughters and their wives.
• WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT? Here’s another sick fuck running a sex cult based around assaulting minors.

Here’s the crux of my problem. These fundamentalist groups (I don’t care what flavor they are, Mormon or anything else) all operate on the idea that women shouldn’t make decisions and that men should do all that because they’re smarter and special and ordained by God or whatever other justification. It always boils down to somehow men are just inherently smarter and better. So women don’t deserve rights.

How can they make that claim when again and again, men make horrible stupid decisions?

Other FLDS folks in the town are like hmm, he’s showing up with wives and babies. That’s not kosher, Uncle Warren doesn’t approve of that. Some folks even reported him to the local cop, and fuck that dude for doing nothing.

But regardless of that, 3 grown ass men decided that this idiot was a prophet and turned over their families to him to brainwash and abuse. But men are supposed to make the right decisions?? Rulon Jeffs and Warren Jeffs traded wives and girls around to their male followers, so with those two you think “hmm, okay, well clearly you have at least some followers who are just there for the chance to get child brides.” This Samuel Bateman fucker? Took all the wives, took all the daughters, and then would assault the men as punishment. I guess they thought eventually they’d get some new wives? Despite several years of no wives. Several years of turning over their assets to that Bateman clown?

Or they’re just that stupid.

But don’t worry, the men should be in charge. They make good decisions. Especially if you watch this documentary series, Samuel Bateman looks like the kind of moron who you wouldn’t trust to bag groceries decently, let alone actually have any brain cells. The fact that he could convince any men to listen to him is just concerning. And yes, all the men involved are in prison now.
