Hi, friends!
I hope your day is going well. It’s 2pm as a write this and since before 8am my driveway has been blocked by a sewer maintenance company fussing with the sewer out in the street.
At some time, I’d like to leave and run some errands but I’m not optimistic…
That’s a hell of a sewer blockage.
Rained most of the day and then turned to snow for a bit. Mountains to the north of us are getting absolutely pounded with snow.
Give me a low ball of rye and a maduro by the fire in the Broken Horn and I’d gladly wait out that blizzard.
Built 90% of a wood shed today in 30 degree weather. I had enough gear to kind of stay warm, partner not so much. He was getting hypothermic & making stupid mistakes. Making some chicken soup for dinner, seems right after a day in the cold.
Oh shit, I hope your friend doesn’t have frostburn from all the cold.
Good call with the chicken soup, that sounds perfect after your day. I hope you have dessert, too!
Also the sewer company was here until after 4pm. I don’t think they actually finished so much as gave up for the day.
I really enjoyed my vacation but I am so bummed out right now. Particularly because the trip reminded me of a slightly better life during my engineering days and because of the crap at work I came back to.
I thought vacations are supposed to make you feel better? Not sure if I am just being miserable or a dipshit… Jury’s out on which.
Maybe it’s a sign to move on to another job? Life’s too short to work for shitty companies. I learned that the hard way & had to leave the only place I ever lived as an adult & all my friends to find a better life. It was the best thing I ever did.
In @manchucandidate‘s defense, I lived in Belleville TWICE. HELL is a greener pasture…no matter how much time goes by.
I’m starting to see a little improvement in my knee’s torn meniscus. The first week was pain management and I started physical therapy right away even though it hurt like a mother. It’s been three weeks and I’m finally back to teaching tai chi albeit in a somewhat limited fashion. I might be able to dodge surgery after all. I think we’ve decided that our road trip to Chicago first week of January is back on.
Is it a bad idea to drive to Chicago in the first week of January? I went up a few years ago on December 26 and it was OK. But up there it could go either way. Well, at least we’ve got the right vehicle for it if the weather turns crazy as Chicago in January often does.
I’d be more worried about the non-Chicago parts of Illinois for driving if the weather turns.
Good luck with the knee. I’ve watched my son screw up knees three times for sports stuff. Twice they were OK after just a period of braces and PT, but one time needed surgery. It’s best to avoid it if possible.
i allegedly had my 4th vaccination wednesday evening….me thinks it was actually a slow acting anaestetic/sleep serum tho
out like a light by half past 8 last night
no other side effects tho
still no 5g
Fatigue and a sore shoulder have been my only noticeable side-effects after getting my shots. Very grateful that it’s not worse, since I know others are not so fortunate.
ETA: Oh, and for the 5G, it takes time for the squid people to activate your account.
