  1. My wife finished jury duty today on a pretty awful case. She said the process was pretty dreadful, but the final verdict was OK. An approximation of justice within a semi reasonable ballpark.

    Her experience kind of reflects the case I was on one time. Far from perfect, but probably better than what the cynical baseline would have you expect. Extremes tend to cancel out.

  3. Well, it seems the Sherman family decided they had enough of us and want their billions.  We got sold to a private capital firm that owns chemical and pharma firms (not a Bain or other vulture capital firm as far as I know) for unknown terms.

    I just hope that their management isn’t as stupid as ours. I’m hoping (along with many of my coworkers) is that they are smart enough to dump the dipshits… I must be insane in the Einstein definition of insane. My manager seemed quite unsettled by it because he fears he might be one they get rid of (can’t blame him)…

    The funny thing the last time we heard the rumors several years back, management was quite upset that we worker bees were gleeful that they’d be fired/packaged out for the new bosses.

    Meet the new boss, same as the old boss… won’t get fooled something something…

      • Yes. I have my suspicions on who, but I won’t say because, well, I don’t want to get sued. There are a lot of suspects but nothing concrete.

        From what the rumors say… the kids (his 3(?) daughters) just want to cash out and not deal with the day to day running of the bidnez which is why they made an agreement to sell “us” to a private capital firm. Their daughters just want their money, but the son wants to be seen as a great bidniz man on his own (after he lost about $110 million CDN on a failed beer company over a decade ago… IN CANADA!) Like most rich kids, he only wants to get involved with the flashy shit and none of the day to day drudgery that is bidniz which is why he wasn’t interested in working for his dad (which is probably why his beer bidniz failed in the first fucking place.)

        • The reality with these things is that it takes at least two or three years for anyone to even understand what they’ve bought. They all come in with big ideas and then spend at least a year working out a new logo.

Last night we had some old neighbors over for a reunion of my old beer club that kind of ended in the pandemic.  They moved to Florida about 7 years ago.  Great times, great beer, I made Hawaiian food for about 20.  Cool guy, husband works for Blue Orgin after years with Boeing & NASA.  He just found his real dad thru 23&me which was a fucking crazy story!  They told us how much they miss talking to people that aren’t fucking crazy Trumpers!

  5. I was reading an article today about Hurricane Ian and they allowed comments. Expressions from the vox populi are to me what the scent of fresh blood is to sharks.

    Oe went, “This is God punishing Florida for–” but it wasn’t the usual roundup: In Florida homosexuality is not a stoning offense, in Florida they haven’t outlawed all abortions, in Florida DeSantis didn’t send in the National Guard to prevent the FBI from ransacking the holy site of Mar-a-Lago and desecrating the Shrine to Goddess Melania’s Underthings. No, this was God punishing Florida for turning away those who came for help and flying them up to Martha’s Vineyard. Several Bible passages followed. I thought that was nice, sort of. Although let’s be frank. I’m not sure where the flight originated but there’s a high probability that if I were in whatever part of Florida that was and I was offered a flight to MV I would have accepted AND chipped in for gas/jet fuel.

  7. i’m allegedly getting a raise..you know aside from the union organized 7% over the course of a year

    apparently works implemented pay scales based on what you can do as of the first of next month

    guess who knows how to do everything shop side

    this should be interesting
