Hi, friends!
How is your day going?
Are you trying anything new lately? New food? New clothes? New habits? New routes to places?
I’m trying out the spray avocado oil from Trader Joe’s. I’ve used spray canola for years, but avocado oil is supposed to be better at high heats.
It’s a bit of a learning curve with my stainless steel pans. I mainly used the spray canola for making omelettes and yesterday’s omelette was a little rough. I’m going to figure this out though!
I’m trying sleep deprivation, went to bed at 1am & got up at 530. I’ve been dozing off all day & not getting much done. Uggg, lots to catch up on so hope I can sleep tonight.
Ugh, sounds familiar. Jet lag?
After almost 10 years of straight rotating shifts, dealing with “jet lag” every two weeks is normal for me.
I had about 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night which is typical for a first night on a new shift. Trying not to sleep till 9pm so I can regain a regular sleep cycle.
Yep, serious jet lag. Usually doesn’t hit me like this or this soon.
Melatonin helps.
Actually I found the best way to reset my body clock was 5mg of Cannabis Gummies. It knocked me out hard and I ended up sleeping really well. Not sure about all the legalities and all.
Depends on work related things and everyone reacts differently to Cannabis.
Totally legal here but now when I do THC it makes my brain not shut off. I’m going the gin & tonic route tonight.
Related: Have you ever heard of biphasic sleep? It’s when you don’t sleep for six or eight of however many hours per night in one go, but rather break it up into two parts. The well-off Victorians used to do this. It’s why you hear about balls that went on until 4 am and then everyone was up and about for weekend shooting at grand weekend country house parties. They indulged in siestas, although they certainly didn’t call them that.
The last time we were in Spain we stayed at a small place with a terrace. I would hang out there in the afternoon, enjoying a glass or
sixtwo of the excellent local wine, and listening to the neighborhood noise and chatter, and then suddenly all would fall silent. Then around 4 or 5 things would pick up again. I couldn’t believe this was still going on, but there’s a reason why Spaniards think nothing of taking their children to family restaurants at 10 pm and hanging out for hours.I myself am biphasic now that I’m WFH. Why not get up at 2:30 am and do some work, it’s not like I interact with anyone, and then remain conscious, and then make lunch and nap for three or four hours. And then make dinner and then pass out at 8 or 9 pm and then start reading the tabloids at 1 am and resume work at 2:30? My nickname around this apartment is “Dracula.”
A big driver back in the day was families having seven kids in tiny houses and moms being up in the middle of the night for something like 15 years to nurse. Everyone got up when the baby started crying.
going to bed at 1 to get up at 5 is about my normal….
what was new is that i actually went to bed slightly before midnight last night
still….only way im ever hitting at least 7 hours of sleep again is if i get back on night shifts….or at least lates
earlies do not suit me
Not really something new but a friend brought me some banana nut muffins she baked. I haven’t had one in years and had forgotten how they could be when done right. It was all I could do not to scarf them all down immediately. 😋
Oh nice!!! You’re right, those are so much better when actually home made!
She’s a good baker, they’re so moist and flavorful.
I was going to save this for the weekend BrainDrain TM, but I finished “Everything Everywhere All At Once” last night.
I think it deserved every award it got this year. Not many movies can evoke an emotional response/tears from me. I think Toy Story 4, Dead Poets Society, and Brian’s Song. It’s a pretty short list.
The lesson I got from this movie is the hardest part is learning to forgive yourself for the things you’ve done. Painful to watch mostly because it is watching my mom and my sisters all over again (minus the SF antics.)
I was surprised by that angle but I thought they pulled it off really well.
Kinda new in cyclical way. I started playing Zelda Breath of the Wild again. I never finished the game because I dIdn’T wANt iT eVeR tO ENd. 😂 Jokes on me because the sequel finally dropped and I can’t play it yet. I’ve played BOTW every year since it was released and it continues to wow me. Will this be the year that I finally face Ganondorf?
