…it’s so easy to lose track…but apparently we’re four today…if you’ve been counting the days…which myo has…so…if it were up to him…all other things being equal…there’d be all sorts of different posts today to mark the occasion…& not another of these interminable DOTs of mine…maybe some deep dives into some comics…or some films…or some music…or poetry…or…semantics or etymology or something…but…despite nicking the heading from marvel’s “to his coy mistress”…I’m not trying to be coy about it…all other things aren’t equal…none of us have the time we’d like free…& there’s a markedly less than celebratory aspect to days that have been dawning on us lately…so chocolate being a salad might well be the best of the news I could muster up…& this isn’t a doctoral thesis on the influence of alan moore on the superhero comic book…or a spoiler-laden investigation into whether or not the culture novels by iain m banks could be said to form an overarching narrative of the sort that would argue for reading them in order…or an attempt to explain why the genre rules for hong kong kung fu movies make a convincing case that you could substitute the phrase “buddha’s name be praised” for “dear holy motherfucking shit”

…but…maybe it should have been?

…so…while you all sit there & think about what you’ve done…& whether maybe you’d like to do something else enough to consider dropping @myopicprophet a line to say what that might be & when it might be convenient for you to do it…or an email to admin@deadsplinter.com if you can’t remember your log in…& other such sundry diversions & excursions as might fill the joint up with enough posts to outweigh these walls of text with all manner of endeavors more pleasant to contemplate…like a modern day chapman’s homer…while he unfairly berates himself for having failed to provide a higher standard of free service to those of us who appreciate the fact the lights stay on around here…here’s a couple of rabbit holes you could jump down if you feel like it

  5. Happy fourth!

    I did have plans, but like most things these days, or for the past 2.5ish years, I couldn’t find the time. BUT the good news for me (perhaps bad for you?) is that I’ve decided to prematurely free up some time so I can soon spend more time on the front end around here.

    Before that, I have a few things behind the scenes that require tending.

  8. In other news, a hockey player in England died after taking a blade to the neck on the ice. Apparently the video is still on Twitter, because of course it hasn’t been removed as Elon is a fucking douchecanoe.

    • Unfortunately, something similar happened in the NHL in the 1989 season when goalie Clint Malarchuk took a skate blade to the throat that cut his carotid artery.

      He was lucky because the trainer was a former military medic who stopped the bleeding.

      I remember listening to that game on the radio and the whole stadium went silent while the radio announcers were trying not to mention that there was a guy on the verge of bleeding to death. The game went on but none of the players put any heart into it (who can blame them?)

      Goalies started wearing neck guards to prevent this from happening.
