  1. I attract mosquitoes like nobody’s business. It’s ridiculous, I just accept it. Even with deet spray they still hover around. I just end up looking like a smallpox victim or something all summer long. Whatever.

That being said, if there’s ever endemic malaria in St Louis, I’ll be the first one to get it probably.

    • how the hell did i read this post and miss the first link?

(edit) come to think of it…..i read the first link earlier when the post went up….its what made me look up a few more articles about it….and a beau of the fifth collum video…

and then i forgot about it all….i blame 80somef and 90some% humidity

  2. I sort of expect “fall asleep on the keyboard” DOTs to go like this:

    • A good friend who lives in Van drove thru the eastern parts of Washington recently. He was surprised to see the disparity between the coastal region and the interior.  He said it was quite stark and somewhat depressing as opposed to the rural areas of Canada he regularly drives thru.

      • @HammerZeitgeist sorry you are having to deal w/ all the smoke.  We have a haze at my place but at least not smelling the smoke so far.  I used to snowmobile around Cle Elum in the mountains & there are some beautiful hikes around there.  Have you ever done the Iron Horse trail tunnel?  It is super fun but you need a flashlight, best on a bike.  You are basically going from Hyak to just past Snoqualmie Pass in a train tunnel.  We used to bike it all the way to Rattle Snake lake.

        • That sounds like a real adventure! I haven’t hiked any trails. I’m stuck in the cabin with baby. The rest of the family is out at a lake beach then hitting up an art fair/festival at Suncadia. And by stuck I mean we’re grooving to R&B while I drink a glass of sparkling wine and giving each other avocado facials attempting to eat avocado toast.
