  1. …I know hegseth put some of his classified chats on main…& that john oliver one about bari made it plenty clear why the “university” with her name attached & her bust on a plinth in its pop-up rent-a-space might be a fan of the chatham house rule

…but…we see these people…& we’ve seen the internet…&…it’s not “if” they have shameful shit in their DMs…the if is if it would materially alter some trajectories when that stops being a question

no surprise here, jd vance has a vested interest in being able to be an open nazi in american politics

…also…I can understand the instinct to avoid the thing that’s clearly going to be full of stomach-wrenching-ly awful hideousness…but…it might be a bit kool-aid acid test…to keep defending the people that were happy chatting that shit amongst themselves…probably a strong indicator of not having read what they said

…or you have irony-poisoning from hallucinatory brainworms & a tragic misapprehension as to the synonymous antecedents of the terms meme & mind-virus…like…say…a number of perpetrators of heinous acts of violence that it’s harder to pity than it is to argue are somewhere between products & victims of massively-funded & consistently enabled engine of barely directed stochastic terrorism

…if the only route to being a true believer in your bullshit is to break your own brain so bad you kill the part that’s there to warn you you don’t want to look the way you do to not-you because the social cost:benefit on being around you is unsurvivable on an instinctual rating…AKA train yourself to interpret shame as pride until you can’t recognize either

…or you give so few shits you can’t even be bothered to look at what you’re signing on for as a brush to tar yourself with

…there’s actual crack-heads who are less of a threat to themselves & others than someone who answers that description

…& then…as ever…you get to the ones that are the MAGA equivalent of the guy that builds the bomb-vests & talks some kid into their death being more use to the world than one less guy who knows how to rig those…because otherwise he’d be doing that part…but…we don’t all get to be heroes & martyrs & how jealous he is about all the post-mortem getting-laid-in-paradise…& don’t worry…none of those girls have ever got laid before either so they won’t know what they’re missing out on so you’ll be fine…& doesn’t that sound better than this miserable existence

…oh…& while I’m rambling on at enough tangents to build a whole new circular argument out of spare parts

‘In the past few weeks three new applications of AI have landed that could each have a profound impact on our shared reality: OpenAI’s new video platform, Sora; the scaling of a virtual companion called “Friend” and Meta’s push to import its advertising model into chatbots.’

…what’s that got to do with the price of milk?

OpenAI-aligned rationalists heard the term "infohazard" and immediately thought "What if there was a science fact so horrifying that it drove geniuses like us insane?" and not "What if the big titty anime girl who shares all your fetishes tells you you're the Messiah and must shoot up your school?"

    …oh…you know

FINALLY a path to financial viability for OpenAI.

…so…maybe…if you skipped the chatlogs-of-young-republicans horrowshow in the interests of keeping your breakfast down…don’t skip back 9 or so months in the guardian archive (for one place) to be reminded of what sam altman needed some of his family to swear affidavits about to make the things one member of that family said about things he allegedly shouldn’t have done…be forgot the way that largely seems to have been…what with there being such a surfeit of other shit to point to as reasons sam might not be a great guy

…sort of…ahem…like those young thugs…I mean young republicans…young thug is…like…30-something…which tracks if lil baby is 30-odd

…shit…better pull the rip-cord before I break the mctaggart boundary & spend all day talking about the unreality of time?

  2. Actually he doesn’t. Not sure if it’s ever been determined at a clinical level, but narcissists don’t see what we see when they look in the mirror.

Trump finally realizes he’s really f-cking ugly

  3. That Nazi story is a really, really, really good one to share with our non-internet-poisoned friends because yes, my takeaway was “no kidding” but when I told my wife she was rather unpleasantly surprised by what they said. I do not think most people are aware that this is what the party is (and the broader media has taken great pains to obfuscate this pretty basic fact!)

I’d also love to ask Pelosi and Schumer and Jefferies — the “but we need a Republican Party!” axis — if they think those attitudes are crucial to the future of the republic or if maybe they shouldn’t pretend that isn’t their current opposition.
