It’s straight narcissism. My MIL thinks she’s this hot femme fatale and all the men are captivated by her. She is most assuredly not and they are most assuredly not. But beyond just not seeing what we see, she completely blots out visual cues, like people rolling their eyes or shaking their heads.

Yeah, might be malicious compliance but I also think that there’s almost no angle that looks “good” or even “imaginary good” at this point, even for Trump, who no doubt believes himself to still be the handsomest boy who ever lived. That’s a truly terrible angle for a heavy old person, but it’s also … other than telephoto from 300 yards with mayo on the lens, what IS the better angle?
That Nazi story is a really, really, really good one to share with our non-internet-poisoned friends because yes, my takeaway was “no kidding” but when I told my wife she was rather unpleasantly surprised by what they said.
