I’m sorry to see that Dane died. It seems like it happened quickly, but he probably kept his diagnosis private as long as he could.
I knew zero backstory but my wife told me that he had symptoms in 2024 and was only diagnosed last year but was very open about it. Apparently it just happened very fast. ALS is really terrifying.
I think it surprises me because I had a co-worker that had ALS, and he continued to work for years until he couldn’t keep going. Of course it makes sense that it affects different people differently, but I didn’t realize that it could happen that fast.
His symptoms started 18 months before he made it publicly known. It was still a relatively fast decline. I read that people who are diagnosed with ALS usually have 3-5 years. It’s terrible and heartbreaking all around.

I doubt seriously that the changes to the Kennedy Center will stop at “cosmetic.” Unless Trump is stopped, he’s going to demolish the place and try to replace it with something garish and tacky.

Interesting that Epstein had ties to schools that both of my wives attended. The first one went to Interlochen. The second went to Dalton. He actually started teaching at Dalton around the time the second one was leaving.
That’s the most stunning story of rich white male privilege that I’ve ever heard. As someone who’s taught at several colleges, I had to produce transcripts, sit for interviews, and even conduct mock classes just to be considered. And I’m a white male! With experience and multiple degrees! Some dude that never finished college gets a job at an elite school? I mean, you kind of hear about things like this sometimes, but this is so incredibly blatant.
