Deadsplinter Up! All Night: If It’s Not Scottish, It’s Crap!

No Way In Hell That Header Reference Is Dated

A screen capture from the Saturday Night Live "All Things Scottish" skit.
Screen capture from SNL's "All Things Scottish" skit featuring Mike Myers and Kyle MacLachlan.

On this day in 1306 (I remember that year as if it was yesterday), Robert the Bruce was crowned king of Scotland. Which is all the excuse I need to post a bunch of Scottish musicians.

    • …if I’d seen that before I posted the other thing I might have gone the other way…the album cover is the spit of a picture on the lid of the tins for a brand of shortbread someone only my grandmother could explain how I’m related to considered the only store-bought variety deserving of recognition

…couldn’t find a bagpipe version of “over the sea to skye”, though…so here’s some runrig after all, if we’re going the full braw to dreich on this brief

[translation from the gaelic available here]

  1. …not gonna lie…my first thought was deacon blue…runrig felt it might seem like I was taking the piss…but then I remembered loki…& this wouldn’t be exactly typical of his stuff but wall-to-wall rap in a scottish accent can be a bit full-on…so…here’s some high expectations

…&…well…in the words of deacon blue

    • Wow. How many times could David Bowie milk “Under Pressure?” Did I do a duet with him of this at some point? I might have.

Plus, Annie Lennox’s cap is fab and should be adopted by women (and men) worldwide.
