Deadsplinter Up! All Night: Paycheck

Most likely I start a new job next Monday. It’s a short-term contract — a 4- to 6-month commitment. I wish I was more excited about it, but at least the hourly rate is very good for this market. But I’m not looking forward to continuing to look for a full-time, permanent position while working this one through the holidays. Oh well — gift horses and all that. I’m back on the payroll.

  3. if all else fails you could always

  4. I’ve also done contract work between jobs. The last time I did it, like you I was steadily job-hunting while working the contract job, which was annoying because if I took time off, I didn’t get paid. But I found something better and closer to home. When I resigned, they said “oh, we were just about to offer you a full-time position.” So you never know, it might lead to something.

  5. Best wishes on the money and the search.
