Is the internet being funky for you guys too? I had a hard time getting on Deadsplinter yesterday and same with Bluesky.

    • Tongue… shoe tongue or animal tongue, I have no idea.

Makes the horror stories about SOS aka Shit On a Shingle seem tasty.

“The struggle has developed into a fight between the material strength of the enemy and our spiritual strength. Continue in the task till all your ammunition is expended. If your hands are broken fight with your feet. If your hands and feet are broken use your teeth. If there is no breath left in your body, fight with your spirit. Lack of weapons is no excuse for defeat.”

Lt GEn Renya Mutaguchi IJA 1944.

Kegsbreath is allegedly an acolyte of Murrican Bushido aka Bullshidp, which taken to extremes (like Kegsbreath) produces idiots like this. Considering he does not give a single shit about weapons stockpiles and logistics.

    • …the color &…sheen…broadly match the school catering I remember…though the format is tweaked…those were closer to being round rather than looking like a slice from a loaf of some sort

…iirc…the informal provenance…since the chicken was a lighter tone than other claimed varieties that were indistinguishable where the beef/lamb/pork claims were involved…was “yak meat”…not unrelatedly…around that time the phrase “yak up” was distinct from “yack it up”…which would be to chat enthusiastically…or “yuk it up”…which would be the chuckling kind of thing…whereas “yuck up” would be make something unpleasant like a sub-class of fuck up…but just yak up…would be what you might imagine you’d do if you tried eating something that looked like that?

  1. Is the internet being funky for you guys too? I had a hard time getting on Deadsplinter yesterday and same with Bluesky.

    Yes

    • Same. I blame the fucking techbros. I’m sure it’s their fault somehow.

    • …fingers crossed for today but yesterday the internet was definitely having a bad one?

…bluesky specifically eventually said as much

not bgp, not dns, but a secret third thing (ddos)

…& some of the time D/S wouldn’t load for me places like cloudflare were also being reported as down…it was part of why on top of not going ham on bluesky links to break up the DOT I also went back to the mythos stuff since it seemed topical…more than most days?

…not clear to me who was out trying to mess with what or who yesterday but not so long ago software used by airlines getting horlixed did a number on a bunch of places & airports & there’s a potentially terrifying rabbit hole available in a “looking for a plot for a die hard movie” way & all…but there’s a bit in good omens about crowley being miffed the management in hell can’t grasp the genius behind tying up all the mobile phone networks within the radius of the M25 for an hour at lunchtime in terms of self-seeding & compounding inducement of sin

many outages tied to Microsoft 365 & Amazon web services

…part of me is sympathetic…it’s not getting easier to stay ahead of the people motivated to find ways to break stuff…because the braking part is always the easiest…but…all the same

like maybe im stupid but i remember using the internet 2-3 years ago and sitewide outages were pretty uncommon and aws or azure outages were like once a year occurrences if that and now nothing works

      …it’s not just your imagination?

it seems to me like either:these websites are now run poorlythese webhosting services are run poorlythe internet is haunted by a really mean ghost

      perfect angel (@shiningangelx.bsky.social) 2026-04-16T17:22:51.208Z

…like…back in the day if the BBC interviewed you on the radio they sent a car if you couldn’t come to the studio…& they looked pretty crazy…but…you could sit in the back of the thing like a booth & it had a…probably you’d call it a mast not an antenna once it was deployed…so the line to the studio was reliable enough you pretty much *never* had dead air…now it’s all VOIP stuff…& barely an exchange takes place that doesn’t glitch or drop out or lose the line entirely…engineers of old may be an as yet untapped source of turbine power spinning in their graves, basically…but…also

I’ve written a lot of code and been the oncall for large services. There’s definitely a ghost. It used to dislike me personally, but it *really* dislikes ai and layoffs.
